Jake

Jake

A Story by Sonia's Blogs
"

A short writing on Jake's determination to get his oh-so-perfect cousin in trouble with Mr. Patrick.

"
"Cat got your tongue, huh?" I could almost picture the way his thin, chapped lips curved into a disgusting smirk as he mumbled his words.

English was my favorite subject, but unfortunately not my favorite class. To my right, in this stuffed, humid, and stinky room, my cousin's seat was situated directly next to mine. To make matters worse, he firmly placed his greasy hand on the two sides of the desk, ensuring it was adhesive to my desk.

"No, Jake, your stench got my tongue," I snarled, informing him that I didn't appreciate his filthy aroma. With a flick of his wrist, my desk tumbled down, taking my materials with it and causing a loud thud. Everyone's head snapped in our direction, including a fuming Mr. Patrick who was clearly annoyed and not in the mood to deal with us.

Don't get me wrong, I was a good student. I had an impressive overall score of 100% since 7th grade and received praise from multiple teachers at any given chance. It was Jake, my not-so-intelligent cousin, who provoked me and caused me to receive scowls from Mr. Patrick, as he was the only class we shared.

A newfound smell of coffee hit my face, jolting me back into reality and face to face with a now red and angry English teacher. "Am I talking to a ghost? I said pick the desk up!" Mr. Patrick yelled, trembling with anger and drawing attention to the situation. With a sigh, I stood up and picked up the desk, placing it back into its original position while glaring at a smirking Jake with a balled-up fist in his mouth to contain his laughter.

As if luck was finally on my side, the bell rang, saving me from further humiliation by our English teacher and from having to interact with Jake. Hurriedly, I carelessly stuffed my items into my bag and pushed past everyone, earning a few glares from some of my classmates. I could hear footsteps approaching from the distance, but I feigned ignorance. I was in no mood to chat with Jake.
