Footsteps

Footsteps

A Poem by Tyson

Footsteps
Down a winding road
broken bridges
Burning homes and cobblestone
Only one set of footsteps
I walk alone

There used to be laughter
Before I was
Wise enough to know fear
Happily ever after?
Boy you won't
Find her here
It haunts my footsteps
Echoes of happier times
Now I know
I wasn’t happy
I was blind

Footsteps
Down a winding path
Nuclear war
Ashes, the aftermath
Burned into the highway
I walk alone

A phantom of disaster
What's left
Of the darkness that nears
Cold whip of the master
Grace and sunshine
Disappear
I no longer leave footsteps
As I wander along my way
No sunrise
To greet me
No new day

Footsteps
Down a missing road
The wind
Has long since overblown
No map, no one to guide me
I walk alone

My bottle, my gun beside me
I walk alone
