The Gift

The Gift

A Poem by R

I am many things.

I am a sponge. I am a tree. I am a flame.

I am both a frog, and a rat,

A toy, and a cat.

I am many things, but a weakness I am not.

I am many things.

I am a beast. I am the rain. I am the reason why the seasons change.

I am both a weed, and a rose,

The wind, and the dirt on your nose.

I am many things, but a nuisance I am not.

I am many things.

I am a seed. I am a fountain. With me, you can move mountains.

I am both a lock, and a key,

The Sun and Tai Chi.

I am many things, but taken for granted I am not.

I am the monster beneath your bed and the moon overhead;

The cause of your fear that grows weaker by the year.

I come alive in your dreams.

I dwell in your mind, books, and stories spoken.

I am your imagination.

I was not expecting the last line at all. Many times (especially in movies and tv shows I can predict what happens with fair accuracy). It's nice when there's a curveball like this. I thought it would be thoughts, but imagination holds more meaning.
