Time.

Time.

A Poem by Logan Giddings

What we need is more time
time to find this thing that we call rhythm and rhyme
that thing that binds
everything we've worked so hard to find.
It's no easy task I assure you
it took me a while to realize what I knew
about us
and them too.
They tell to think for ourselves
as long as long as we don't hurt others
but we sit by idle
while others kill each other.
But no more
I will stand for what I fight for.
I have lived on that side of the tracks
and worked hard to erase my past
but nothing goes by fast
when your voice is only one.
We need to come together
so that no one man will starve forever
make sure food is on his table
and his credit is stable
because we don't live in some sort of fable
every man deserves to have cable.
It's hard to get by when there is no one there to help you
but we all know that there is something that we can do.
We can stand as one
and together our numbers match none,
we can stop all the fighting
and make sure everyone does the right thing.
Because I seen what's worth fighting for
witnessed the children of the poor
but I cannot watch anymore.
There is no gun in anyone's hand
But zero dollars in a bank account
is enough to kill any man
any woman
any child.
I know what's worth fighting for
and this is me
saying I cannot stand by and watch anymore.
