A Poem by Strawberry Child

one day, she might come to me and say, "you made a promise to me, and i expect you to keep it." the ring i gave to her in her palm, hand extended out to me. she will still love me, like i do love her. if it's a dream, a hope or wish, or a criminally self-imposed delusion, i don't know which.
i've had nightmares every night for months; she isn't there, it's the end of the world, i'm almost scared to death. plagued by burning lashes' swollen eyes and scorched lenses, the last sunrise bled out, seeped into all the peoples' open wounds. there is the sound of an explosion followed by a quiver of light, then a heavily burgeoning ripple can be seen. i watch the masses, human body - chains immured with paralytic shock, collapse onto their knees and sink below the vestigial horizon. beneath the atrophied skin of our dear, dead planet, muscles shudder and contract to swallow the last wave of defeated races, choking as it does so; the earth sputters and coughs, heaving breathlessly for one final sigh, suffocated. now, it's only nothingness that exists. nothingness, and me.
