Cat And Mouse

Cat And Mouse

A Poem by The Fretless Horseman
"

A poem about cruelty. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

"
It's a game of cat and mouse, we both have whiskers
We're both mammals, but you're much bigger than me
Your claws are poised to silence my voice
There is no screaming as you devour my will to be
Your message written in another mouse's tears
One you loved and lost
Was he delicious, my dear?
Did you enjoy the scent of his fear
As much as you enjoy leaving my bones lying here?

My tiny heart beats quickly
Your teeth defeat me
I don't want to see you do this to anyone else
Put them through the same exact levels of hell
Blinded by the desire for revenge
You put an innocent victim to rest
It's about time you taste a slice of your punishment

But, alas, the mouse has been driven from his home
Alone, condemned to suffer with no hope
Lest we forget the cruelty and continue to lie on our backs
The dogs of war make a meal of the cat
For they are the guardians, the canines, as it were
They put the mice at ease with the simplest of words
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
Worry not, mice, there is justice for you
