Intents and Purposes

Intents and Purposes

A Poem by The Fretless Horseman
"

Another lyrical idea I had several months ago. The bolded section is intended as a chorus, and the italicized section as a bridge. What do you think?

"

I remember when I couldn’t get over myself

It wasn’t long ago that my heart was locked in a cell

Beyond all hope, without a chance, the key was in my pocket

But I’ve become a better man, I tried and I can’t knock it

For all intents and purposes, I’m losing her memory

She drags me down like an undertow

Perhaps I got the best of this because I’ve been set free

I’m riding on cloud nine since I let her go

Something in those eyes told me I was a fool

Being used is worse than death because it’s cruel

She held me back and she was stacked, though her heart was freezing cold

Forbidden fruit tastes good in truth, but all things must grow old

There is anger; there is heartache,

I am melting like a snowflake

Sprawled on the ground, softly sobbing,

The guilt has left my heart throbbing

The heat of the moment, two thousand degrees

And I thought she had the disease

No one stopped her, what a monster!

I’M SO HAPPY THAT I LOST HER
