A Poem by Jethro del Cielo
"

We were standing on the shoreline
waiting for a moment to arrive
the first light or at least
another quiet dream of any other kind,

and from behind smokescreens made from long lost love
and burning cigarettes
the joker who spoke slyly of your dreams
were trying steal the night away unseen

but I don't think we ever really minded him all that much
it was just another blues to us back then
it was alright by us if he wanted to play it like that

So there we were, both of us lost
deep inside the miracle we'd made
chasing the first light over the thinnest ice
madly daring everything to break

but we weren't looking down for any lost miracles
no, we were looking up at that pale dawnbreak sky
somehow finding that very miracle anyhow

There were angels flying around, but they had broken wings
and everything inside them was turning stones
still the the night and it's darkness
would soon turn into a dawnbreak blue
sure, it will be pale and fragile,
but it will be there none the less
it won't leave until it's time

Perhaps that's why the angels keep trying
I don't know, but I hope they've got a reason like that
broken or not they belong in that pale morning light
even if it might be just me hoping
at the time it just seemed to feel empty without them
and I always think about broken angels flying around
looking up with a broken little smile

I guess from another other point of view
we were standing on that shoreline
simply because there were no one else
were there to see things through
there to say farewell to Lady Midnight and her loneliness
and we wanted her to know we love her too

.. and of blues and broken men
many things can be said,
like of how when you find yourself
listening to music you used to love and still do
only now it's coming through in a melancholic hue
learned them as I learned to hold on
just another innocence lost along the way
just another night to make it through
yeah, just another blues

Yeah, the words and melodies haven't changed
the song still remains the same
but nowadays it's just a little easier to just let them slide
just a little easier to let them pass on by
you've already said your goodbyes anyhow
haven't you?

Yeah, the sky nowadays always seems to be cryin'
everyday it gets harder to keep tryin'
We've let the blues run the game for too long
reached the point where we're just holdin' on

Still there's time left, it ain't over yet
No, it ain't over yet
No, it ain't over yet,
We still got the music,
even if it's just another blues

.. dear little baby blue.
