I don't want to set the world on fire.A Poem by Jethro del CieloSelfdescriptory thing.I don't want to set the world on fire.Listen to me closely,
to words softly spoken under autumn sky I never wanted anything I always wanted everything but there's too much to reach out for so I end up with thin air, empty smiles, crying eyes, wicked lies, unloved and unwise because I tried not to see the dark but in my efforts also missed the light And everything I say or do is only meant for me and you right now right here tomorrow comes whether I want it or not but I try to forget Come with me I say, to the promised land just take my hand I'll show you the way to the neverending day it's just that I took a wrong turn and now I'll never learn That to take responsibility is to accept the possibility of me failing the ones I care for I can try to tell you that I feel secure but you know as well as I do now that I can never be sure because I made too many mistakes, wasted too many chances under silver sky dances never to come back, the warmth of a day well spent is what I lack Because I always make a mess and too proud to ever confess how much it hurts to have people doubt your word, I keep on living my life through stories I have heard There is no visible end just a vague glimmer of hope at the end of the road I just gotta get going, I just gotta go. © 2014 Jethro del Cielo |
