The Thin Path Walked

Coming off heroin, broken, torn and with a heart who thought it couldn't take no more I wrote this -- and for those who understands, perhaps this will be worth more than the words themselves.

Hunger for something that I refuse myself to have,
a cloud of thoughts becoming mist within a second,

there's no reason for me to hang on,except that I don't want to fall down on my knees.

There's no prayer for someone like me,
who can't even believe in myself.

I hurt because I refuse myself to feel good,
why I don't really know.
There's a few occasional demons out for me,
and I know I can give them control.

But I don't want to lose myself,
and a few more years.

A few more tears.

There's this voice calling on me from beyond my view,
right next to me there's all kinds of fears,
waiting for me to close my eyes,
so that they can come all too near.

Within me there's a few more leaps of faith,
I don't know where I'm going to land,
I don't even know if I'm going to be alright,
but I'm certain it isn't safe to stand where I am.

There's a road leading to damnation,
right next to me,
I could probably follow it without looking down,
to see where it leads.

I know it by heart.

There's a few occasional demons coming for me,
I'm just going to tell them they're welcome,
but that they can't spend the night.

I haven't seen the light,
but I've pierced the darkness.

I know who I am,
I think.

Words without meaning,
leads to emotion without thought,
and thought within emotion,
leads to nowhere.

That's where I'm going to live,
for a while.
