of Quiet Dreams & a LakeA Poem by Jethro del CieloA dream of getting out, coupled with a longing for some sort of good memory in a time when things felt a little rough. This helped me get through that. Hope it will prove worth reading to you, as wellWe were standing on the shoreline waiting for a moment to arrive the first light or at least another quiet dream of any other kind You spoke like there was something you just barely understood that you were wearing like lightning just beneath your skin and I remember you saying it was a quiet dream to carry still, it gave us a real reason to listen From another perspective perhaps we were mad but seen with our own eyes we were just hoping to skate away on the thin ice of a new day knowing it could break wasn't reason enough for us to be afraid Yes, madly perhaps but at the very least living it's all too easy to forget?it's not enough just to survive I looked at you then, and said ever so softly "Let your night wait just a little while" seeing a thousand midnights bloom in the way you smiled Like you thought you were the only one crying for an innocence lost not your own, no, that is still not yet done dying but for those who it got it taken and at what that cost It looked a little like you were wishing it away The pain and the sorrow but I loved you for it And to this day I will swear it is reason enough for anyone about to give up to believe just a little longer I was lost inside a miracle when you said you thought you could let it all go All the great sorrows you’d borrowed along the way were just little gentle white longings not the pale blue regret of the hollow one at prayer that you used to know the gamble lost, the last wrong bet a quiet dream was breaking through the faith that was but is no more the wintertime blues that used to weigh so heavy on your soul seems to have decided it was time to follow another road So there we were on such an ethereal day both of us lost in the quiet dream we'd made me through getting us out and you by letting go Standing at that shoreline watching the evening light We needed nothing more We'd always fought to be alive but now that the war was over and we knew for sure up until this point had we even really lived at all So, chasing the first light over the thinnest ice madly daring everything to break I know we had won when I saw the smile which made you have that look in your eyes speaking of hopes and dreams and of sunshine roads leading everywhere you always wanted to go We finally made it Yes, baby.. we made it through and the lonesome wind that always blew will be but a faded memory sometime soon We got out following sunshine roads with the great sorrows of two lost souls slowly fading away until they were just a little white longing and not really sorrows at all anymore © 2014 Jethro del CieloAuthor's Note
