Crazy

Crazy

A Poem by StoryTailor

Once they told me I was crazy,

Insane, addled,

Barny, wacked.

They put me far away,

I was happy.

Far away,

Safe away.

Sometimes I screamed

Sometimes I cried

Sometimes, Sometimes

I wanted to curl up to die.

Once they told me I was crazy,

Insane, Addled,

Barny, Wacked.

I didn’t believe them.

Couldn’t they understand?

Couldn’t they see?

Couldn’t, Couldn’t?

No.

I was confused, unsure.

What was wrong?

Where was I turned?

What was the lesson

I was supposed to have learned?

Sometimes I fought,

Sometimes I struggled,

Sometimes I laughed and smiled as they fumbled.

Once they called me crazy,

I had nowhere to go.

My opinions were useless,

No place for my thoughts,

No place for my words,

I had no say.

No say.

Every say.

I controlled, yes.

Insane, Addled, Barny, Wacked.

I ran,

I flew,

I touched the sky.

I hurt,

I burned,

I made them cry.

To honest,

To my lies,

To try,

To listen,

To my addled mind.

Too hard!

I struggled, and kicked.

I moaned, and licked.

I smiled inside,

I wanted to die.

Once they told me I was crazy.

I told them it was a lie.

Once they told me I was crazy.

I told them I was fine.

Once they told me I was crazy.

They tried to send me away.

Once they told me I was crazy

Once they told me I was crazy.

NO.

Just stop, listen to my words.

They speak out loud,

They know their worth.

I’m not.

I’m NOT.

I’m fine you see,

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with me.

All you,

All you.

You don’t understand.

My words too complex,

My thoughts to grand.

All you,

All you.

Too small, like sand.

Too much like a follower,

Something likes an ant.

All you,

All YOU.

…all you…

Once they told me I was crazy,

I finally believed.

That maybe, just maybe, there was no hope for me.

No help for me.

A delightful articulation of teenage angst and certainty displaying it's confusion, in a way that shows how little it really matters.
E for Excellent.
(you should make it shorter)
