Seems Like SummerA Poem by Nely Amorimhow the day looks today
The warm sun caresses my face
As I lean out the window to peer out
My eyes squeezed almost shut
Against the glare of the sun high above
Breathing deeply I smell the faint aroma
Garlic bread and baking cakes, from the cafe' below me
The quiet murmur of voices heard faintly
As they enjoy there midday feasts
My glance follows the winged expanse
Of a gull returning from the sea
It's hunt unsuccessful as it looks
About leisurely for a free feed
The rich blue skies, the perfect white clouds
Drift by quietly, in a slow breath of wind
I can't see the ocean but I can smell it from here
I can picture the harbour just out of view
Where I am sure the tourists abound
Laughing and snapping pics of themselves
Locals carry on the day, smiling indulgently
As a group of Japanese tourists giggle incessantly
The sun moves slowly across the sky,
Preparing itself for yet another spectacular dive
Below the horizon and way past the sea
Taking the suns warmth away from me
Seems like summer, yet it is not
It may rain tomorrow, then again it may not
Seems like summer but it is really the Spring A day like no other, the smiles that it brings... © 2008 Nely AmorimAuthor's Note
