German Chocolate Cake!

German Chocolate Cake!

A Poem by Nely Amorim
"

dedicated to my boyfriend, who seems to have a bizzare obsession for this mystery confection ;)

"

Oh German Chocolate Cake!

What mystery are you?

You delight the soul and palate

Of one I hold dear.

Don’t challenge me for his affections

I’ll have your icing too

Your sweet concoction errant

Not for one but for two.

Your secret ingredients kept

Away from prying eyes

Your hold of chocolate desire

Crumbs licked away in haste

The tray is almost empty

You have your victim trapped

Another victory of German Cake!

I’ll fight you all the way.

First of all, it is not an obsession! It's a seductive life long love affair between man and cake. Now I'm willing to share her, but you have to understand we are a packaged deal. She nurtures me with her tastiness and in return I worship at the alter of her frostiness. ;)

Loved the poem :)

I like the way you wrote this, the jealousy aspect of it added much to the poem. It also made me want my mother chocolate cake lol

Damn, I love German Chocolate Cake. As long as the cake isn't some euphemism for sex. Well, even then I might still like it.

I'm sorry, I saw the title and I got hungry. At least you didn't post a picture of German chocolate cake with that disgusting pecan-coconut frosting that looks like puke on here or I wouldn't have read it.

The simplest things can inspire poetry, and you chose a tasty thing to become inspired by! Chocolate isn't addictive. Now if you'll excuse me, your poetry inspired me to get another piece of cake when I go to lunch at work tomorrow.

I absolutely enjoy the homor you have between the subject and main character-- i mean i am still laughing
the idea of a german chocolate cake being a deul catalyst regarding who gets the last piece..lol
thats good humor- what i also enjoyed was the tangable form that reasons in justifying the craftiness

the creative aspect put into motion-the way your thoughts rolled gave this poem character
that define bliss and joking fun in many ways-of just having a good time--a complte rush of valentine
such talent expressed with ease --subtle and realistic-yet reveals the heart of fantasy..like dreams

Your hold of chocolate desire

Crumbs licked away in haste
