Playing My PartA Poem by Stormy
He…stood at the alter saying I do and…he did
Gave me a nice home, promised me kids
Good life to those looking from the outside
Although it came with a price tag on it…my pride
My sanity
My family
Nobody knew the type person he could be
See…he made love to me like no other men have
My prince charming standing at the end of a rose petal path
Made me laugh
Made me feel safe
Mornings I woke up with his arms around my waist…holding me
I grew use to that security
Until those precious arms became his fist
And…the laughing slowly switched…to fighting
The smallest thing I said was like igniting…a bomb
He was the one with the college degree so to him I was just dumb
The trophy wife, the future soccer mom
Basically the hole that made him cum
I was his everything
His freak when he needed me to be as well as the believer of his dreams
Don’t get me wrong he was the perfect provider
But just like he gave, I was the perfect rider
Gave up my dreams so his could be pacified
And all I got in return was black eyes…
Bruised ribs, dislocated shoulders
This was a war I couldn’t win and I grew tired of being a solider
So I packed my bags with intentions of leaving
He stood at the door begging and pleading
And I gave in…see he promised he wouldn’t do it again
But…he did
Hitting me over and over again
Damaged my body, destroyed my heart
Punished me for simply playing my part...
