Romance Is RedA Poem by Crystal Heart
Red is for the juicy, fleshy strawberry
Plucked from its warm patch, No longer allowed to grow. Red is the rose that was left on the doorstep, With its thorns cut away, Masking the danger of Such a beautiful flower. Red is for the chocolate box That was given on the holiday of red. Red is for her cheeks When the words of "I love you" were first whispered. Red is for the sky they shared their dreams under, Red is for the uncontrolled flames of passion. Red is for her father's face When he met the boy who made his daughter red. Red is for the bricks of her new home. Red is for his favorite cupcake he loved to ice. Red is for the warning signs she refused to stop at. Red is for the smeared lipstick on his collar. Red is for the flags she ignorantly chose to ignore. Red is the color of her eyes as she watched The boy with red hair making another red girl. Red is for her soiled hands because of the knife Left in the red girl's back. Red is the hand print marked on her skin Over and over again by the boy with red hair. Red is for the bitten fruit left to rot. Red is for the letter sewn across her chest. Red is for the kit that can no longer heal her wounds. Red is for the cardinal who lost her song. Red is for the leaf that can no longer Hang onto a stable branch. Red is for the sea she wishes to cross Into paradise, if only God was willing. Red is the color of romance, Red is the color of anger, Red will always be a primary color.
