Echo

Echo

A Poem by Erik

Waiting for my echo

To come back to me

It rolls bawling and tender

“Oh these times move so slow”

Can’t you see?

We all fade away in the splendor

We all melt away like the winter

We are stone tablets

Forgotten like maggots

Treated like savages

Lay on our graves like mattresses

Maybe I did something wrong

Maybe I came on too strong

Maybe you can see it from my perspective

I haven’t held anyone for so long

I haven’t felt alive since then

Hope you care enough to spit on my grave

It feels like they’ll all forget me one day

Say goodbye to me

Say goodbye to everyone you love

Because one day you’ll see

We all fade away

And three words are enough

Simple yet effective rhyme scheme.

Message is sad and interesting.

Most interesting lines:

“We all fade away in the splendor”

"We all melt away like the winter"

"We are stone tablets" -- for the symbolism

"Hope you care enough to spit on my grave" -- just a nice and memorable line

True, all things physical do change and fade away. That's why we must learn to look inward.
