Self recorded.. not perfect.. but.. still a great creative outlet. :o)
From this day forward
All violators will be prosecuted
For all the alphabetic individuals
They've prostituted
For personal gain
All pens will be confiscated
And held as evidence
Under poetic domain
And we will retain
Strict levels of surveillance
To ensure that all measures
Are being taken
To prevent
Any further damage
To the poetic name
Throughout
The past decade
We have begun to see
More and more poetic exploitation
And decided to form a foundation
In hope that inspiration
Can once again be restored
We can't afford
To be losing minds
To such demeaning material
Therefore
To take action
We have decided to
Write the future
For all of those
Whom under us
Will carry on the tradition
Of rhythm and rendition
Putting forth nothing
But highbrow compositions
Completely supportive
Of what poetry and spoken word
Is meant to be
I hereby decree
That poetry
Will not come to be
Something dead
The time has come
We surpassed
All the intellectual discrimination
Creating a new rhythmic generation
To better the welfare of lingual affect
We have the right to protect
All the words that stabilize our creativity
And have seen too much negativity
Surround the basis of what we choose to represent
We ask for all to write in compliance
With our alliance
As we try to make the poetic world
A better place
And hope that the past illusionists that called themselves poets
Can be replaced
With those more worthy of the cause
i REALLY liked the first stanza.
All pens will be confiscated
And held as evidence
Under poetic domain
And we will retain
Strict levels of surveillance
To ensure that all measures
Are being taken

great poem, otherwise. it reminds me that some people...i guess they dont know where the boundary lies for writing trash or treasure. no self-control really and all their arguments are weak.
I just heard you read this on the radio, so I had to drop by and say that I loved this. I'm a bad reviewer, and I'm sorta out of things to say. I loved this part especially...

This was just so well written. It's going into favorites.
Honestly, a lot of poetry these days i haven't been feeling BUT I felt that one. Loved it!
Poetry is NOT dead and it's up to us to keep it alive, pure and fresh. Thumbs up to you for doing your part in making that happen.
I have to agree with what you say here; but, whether or not I agree with it, how can we stop people from writing--from calling themselves poets--from following no particular style/doctrine/rules of writing. I admit to writing in many classical forms, using many of the rules of discipline as set down by the masters of the past and attempting to incorporate their ideas into more contemporary pieces. I always try to give credit where it belongs. I know that not everybody does that. I hate plagiarists and it is fairly easy to tell when they have committed others' work under their own name. They need to be bombarded with remarks and comments letting others know exactly what they did. I will support you in your efforts to 'Write the Future'. I only hope that what I write today is still around to enjoy the new dawn of poetry. Good for you, li li, for so effectively speaking your mind. This should be the manifesto for the cafe. So many writing sites have been turned to slums by those referred to herein. However, angry or not: what can we do to change it? (perhaps I assume too much not to include myself in your cross-hairs. I hope not)
This is a great tribute to everyone who writes because they feel the words. So many week to dilute the meaning behind this by stripping a writer of their work, by stealing. The wording in this is superb and the flow makes it a joy to read...excellent work :)
My real name is Alicia. I live on the east side of St. Louis.
I've grown to have a passion for spoken word. I started writing poetry at a very young age but never thought it was something to.. more..
