One

One

A Poem by Li Li
"

*not completely finished... will get back to later.

"

I decided to take a walk

Sit and talk with the people

In hopes of building a literary steeple

not for Christianity

for Humanity

What's left of a dying breed

So many walk forward to get to the future

I decided to turn around

Taking a look into the past

Honoring all the time surpassed

There's a story behind each grain in the hour glass

I have to ask why there's such a division

Why does black and white cause a collision?

Why has man taken it upon themself to form decision

When religion has no disclaimer against race or creed?

Why do we have so many children we can't feed

So many infected with the untreatable HIV?

If only the government would tell us how "untreatable" it really is

So many officials I'd love to quiz

Because to my understanding, the cure does exist.

A constraint so the "minorities" can be dismissed,

May You Rest-In-Peace.

A devised way to decrease the population.

Hey, maybe the medical bills serve as compensation,

A government plan that offers a "lifetime vacation!!!".

Where is the fine print?

Somehow, somewhere, there became a great divide

The loss of love became an epidemic worldwide

Instead of receiving the hands that provide

We were obscured with the hands of bribe and deceit

Hands that proclaimed war just to praise defeat

We all came from One, and will die as One

Look up to different Gods, in the end only able to rely on

One

We stand not aside, but upon our mother

How do we say we love her?

The Atomic Bomb, a perfect example

Hell, let's blow up another!!

If not

One another

We've grown beyond change

Don't have enough courage to rearrange

What we've become

Let's just admire the web we have spun

Instead of being the One

Who creates a reaction?

Please don't be too harsh! I'm trying to figure out a way to write it so you understand the spoken word side of the piece. Still, all help is appreciated.

I don't know how anyone can be "harsh" after reading this. I love how it went from what divides us, to how fear of war and disease can bring us together. Very rarely do you find a writer whose work makes you think as much as yours does. I like the part about looking to the past to learn instead of rushing to the future. Very well said. It's scary when you really look at what we've done as a nation -- all the decisions and all the secrets -- and realize we're just another Rome just with more power to destroy.

Can I seriously borrow your brain, my gosh. Now I wish I wrote poetry as good as I write
fiction. I see that in your writing you have a relatively simple subject but the way you pan it out
is crazy raw, it's like I'm on the page of the unfinished poem witnessing black ribbons stapling
themselves in the form of words living, breath each line. Girl publish something pls. Once again
great.

Raw. Absolutely raw. Raw, honest, truthful and from the heart. You held absolutely nothing back. The injustices of the world infuriate me as much as they seem to infuriate you so I could definitely connect with your poem. I have two favorite parts of this, ones that really stood out to me.

"A devised way to decrease the population.

Hey, maybe the medical bills serve as compensation"

I NEVER thought of it that way... wow, very deep and critical thinking.

"The Atomic Bomb, a perfect example

Hell, let's blow up another!!

If not

One another"

Again, VERY deep and extremely powerful. It's the kind of stuff most Americans seem to not want to hear, which is a plus side.

DON'T STOP WRITING! I love this one a LOT!

Very deep, and almost political as well. There are many ideas strewn in this whole poem, and I almost had to read it two times to get a better idea...def an above average poem though, no doubt. explores the society we live in in a very poetic/spoken word fashion.

This is the thought provoking, inspirational piece that will
be read over and over again. I applaud you for having such a
wonderful voice for the love of humanity, and God!
You whisper loudly sister!
