"

Rules are set plans are made

"Here ya go! Your new room. Now lets get you unpacked." Jack threw my suitcase ontop of the bed and started to unzip it. I looked at him slightly confused, why would I unpack my

things if I was only going to be here for a week, I would only have to pack my things back up again.
"Why?" Jack stopped what he was doing and slowly looked at me.
"Because..." he sighed, "because you might be staying her for longer than just a week."
"I'm still not following." Jack brushed his right hand through his hair and looked at the ceiling.
"Caitlyn, my mom is a lawyer and she wants to talk to you about maybe taking legal action. She's not going to do anything without your concent of course but Caitlyn I think its a good

idea. You wouldn't have to worry about your dad hurting you if something was done about it."
"I am doing something about it." Jack looked at with an eye brow raised.
"And exactly what is that?" I looked down at my feet and noticed a lose string laying on the carpet.
"I told you and I didn't go home."
"And what exactly do you think that's going to do for you Caitlyn? Give you a big shield and protect you until you're eighteen? It's not. It's just not enough. I'm your friend and I

care about you and I'm asking you as a friend to do something more about it."
We had barely even started a legit arguement and already I was done with it. One thing I can say that I've learned from my dad is to just shut up and agree.
"Fine, whatever. I'll talk to you mom about stupid legal stuff."
"Thank you, now can we please get you unpacked?" Jack lifted the top of the suit case and started pulling out the shirts that were on the top
"Do you want these hanging in the closet or in the dresser?"
"Closet, and uh.. how about I unpack the clothes and tell you where to put everything." Jack looked down and saw the bra's and underwear underneath the shirts
"Uhh... good idea." I walked over to the suitcase and picked up the underwear and bra's and put them in the first dresser drawer. Technically you couldn't call it underwear since

majority of them were thongs, but there were still some boy shorts in there. I walked back to the case after organizing my undergarments and started to hand Jack the rest of my

shirts to hang up in the closet while I put my jeans the second dresser drawer. Eventually we started to get a nice rhythem going but it didn't last very long.
"You didn't pack very much." I gave Jack a glare.
"Well no duh, I wasn't planning to stay here for longer than a week remember?" I picked up the suit case from the bed and tossed it towards Jack
"Put this in the closet please." I went to my duffle bag and grabbed my I-home and my moms picture and set it on the night stand next to the bed and put my hands on my hips as I

looked around the room.
"Wow this room is empty."
"Ha, you're telling me." I stood there thinking of something I could do to make this room more homey. My room at my dads house had posters and a paintings hanging on the wall. As I

turned and started to walk out of the room I said,
"I'm gonna go raid your room for stuff."  Jack did a double take and started fallowing me across the hall and into his room. I took a good look around and there wasn't much that I

could snatch, I was actually disapointed. I was actually paying attention to his room this time and I thought his room would be more epic than this. His room was almost the same shade

of blue as my room back home and the posters that were hung on his wall were cricked and unimpressive. I began to walk to his closet and pushed past the smelly shoes and clothes

hoping for something interesting to be there like a forgotten poster or album artwork. Instead I found a painting of a puppy. It was super sloppy and the only thing giving it away was

the nose and the floppy ears.
"Awww, whats this?" I pulled myself out of the closet and walked over to Jack, "Did you paint this?" Jack took a look
"Yeah I did, when I was like, ten."
"It's cute, I'm going to put it in my new room." Jack tried to grab the painting from out of my hands and I put up a struggle and managed to get away and was standing on his bed in

victory still holding the painting.
"Why don't you want me to put in my room?"
"I didn't say that."
"You didn't not say it, plus your actions say otherwise." Jack rolled his eyes and looked at the closet.
"Cause it's not one of my best. I have better drawings than that." I was surprised and looked at him and then at the painting.
"Drawings?"
"Yeah, I finally decided I suck at painting and took up drawing. Why else do you think I take art at school?"
I was stumped, he just didn't seem like the type.
"What do you draw?" Jack walked back to his closet and pushed some of the stuff that I had pushed around and came back with a sketch book. Without saying a word he sat on his bed

and started flipping through the pages. I sat down next to him crossing my legs and placed the puppy painting in the middle of them and started looking at the drawings in the sketch

book.
"You draw people..." Jack nodded his head and kept on flipping the pages of the book rather quickly and I got a glance of something that looked familiure and caught my eye.
"wait wait wait, go back, what was that?" I took the sketch book from jacks hands and flipped back a couple of pages where I stopped at a drawing of a girl.
"Is that... me?" Jack lifted his legs onto the bed and looked down at the floor nervously.
"Yeah. I uh.. I drew it after you came into art class the other day, I hadn't seen you smile in so long; I was inspired."
I looked at the drawing more closely, I had a slight smile on my face, it wasn't a toothy smile or a wince of a smile but a legit small smile. I looked up from the drawing and turned to

Jack, "You are really good. I never would have guessed." Jack smiled and turned his head towards me "Thanks. I guess it's easy to draw something when you care about it." By now

Jack and I were face to face and probably four to five inches apart until I decided that my compliment and his thank you lasted long enough and got up from the bed.
"You know your gonna have to make me some copies so that I can put them in my room."
Jack gave a small smile and nodded his head, he was about to say something but his mothers voice carried up the stairs.
"Jack, are you home?"
"Yeah Mom! I'll be right down!" Jack looked looked at me and stood up from his bed.
"I'll get to work on those copies, but right now I think we better go downstairs." I nodded my head and set the sketch book on his bed and followed him out of the room and downstairs

to where his mother was waiting in the downstairs hallway.
"Hi mom." Debbie turned to Jack and smiled. "Hi Jack, it's nice to see you again Caitlyn."
I blushed, "Yeah, I'm sorry about earlier this morning." Debbie waved her hand "It's fine, I understand completely. Speaking of which, Jack will you go start dinner, your sister is at

her fathers for the week until we get things situated so you don't have to worry about her, but I want to talk to Caitlyn." Jack nodded his and and started walking towards the kitchen.
"Sure. I'll make dinner a surprise."
Jack left the room and Debbie escorted me into the living room. It was nice and roomy and was anything from what I expected, so far their house has been filled with surprises. There

was a nice big grey soft sofa alongside the left wall and upper left corner of the room with a fire place right next to it which was also a straigh shot from the doorway and an

entertainment center along the right wall everywhere else were shelves with pictures and movies. I liked it, it somehow fit the people who lived in the house. Debbie motioned for me to

sit once we reached the couch so I did and she sat next to me with a foot of space between us but turned towards each other.
"So I wanted to talk to you about taking some legal action and hopefully you staying here until things get sorted out."
"Yeah, I know, Jake already informed me of your intentions."
"Oh, well that was nice of him. I would need you to be okay with everything of course, but I think the best thing that I could do is make a report of his abuse and emancipate you from

him."
"So I would be divorcing my father basically."
"Thats the idea, and it would be a long process. We could a restraining order and, I would really like it if you would stay here I would feel so much better about things, I couldn't

possibly allow one of Jacks good friends be put into the system and moved around, it's just not right. I don't know why it's taken us so long to meet after you and Jack have been

friends for so many years but none none the less it has and I just want to help. I know what it's like to not know what to do."
"Thank you Debbie... I can call you that right?" Debbie shook her head "Yes, it's perfectly fine." I smiled, "Great. I really do appreciate it and I'm all for you doing whatever it is

that you just said; it's too much effort to repeat it back to you." Debbie placed her hand over mine with a smile. "Good! Now while you're staying here I have to tell you about the

rules, which is basically that there aren't too many, just don't stay out too late -which I don't think you would but I have to tell you that- and whenever you're somewhere besides here

and school I would really like to know considering that your dad still has legal custody he might try and pull something.... uhm... No parties without my permission, no bad language when

Amanda is around. That's pretty much it. You're a good kid, I can tell, I know I don't have to worry."
I smiled and thanked Debbie before walking out of the living room and into the kitchen to see what Jack had up his sleeve for dinner.

cute, much better with the detail. Still a few run on sentances and some grammatical errors, but overall good. I wish it was longer. POST UP MORE! GET WRITING, WOMAN!
