Prologue

A Chapter by Steven Wolfethorne

Prologue:

For many thousands of years, man has created stories of great battles between the heavens and the netherworlds, stories that leave the Earth stranded in the middle as a battle ground for these great Titans of times past.  In this digital age of technocracy, technology is man’s new God, the circuit his new savior.  No one cares to remember the legends and myths of olde as they are now just passed off as fairy tales.  In today’s world religion’s serve as ivory towers of hatred and intolerance that powerful men rattled their sabers from, dictating the futures of all below them.

In today’s world, man relishes at playing God, creating technological and medical advances that only the divine were said to posses the abilities of, playing with sciences behind the backs and minds of the public, tapping into worlds and realms that were not meant for them in secret.  Like Prometheus with fire, the gift of technology to man was just as much of a curse because of his infinite and insatiable curiosity and quest for knowledge.  To know the unknowable, to seek the unimaginable, it is like a well that has no bottom.

How wrong man was to forget how powerless he truly is in the face of the unknown and unknowable.

Every two thousand years, the old gods and dark forces from beyond once again awaken from their slumber to wager each other’s balance of power in this Universe, and every time so far, man has been guarded by faceless and nameless heroes who have sacrificed everything and have been erased by time to protect the lives of the innocent.  This time that balance has been disturbed by man in his infinite quest for knowledge and now a hero must be chosen without preparation…
