Innocence & CoffeeA Poem by steven sundelllyrics from an old song I wrote in my twisted youthINNOCENCE & COFFEE I wake to find I'm fast asleep, and in this mindless state I'm in, I wade and float atop my sins with a dubious smile comes innocence I wait for slumbers silent kiss, against all sense I spread my lips. Out pours of wisdom.. Out pours of sense.. Out of malice comes innocence. Beauty can be seen, through a blind man's inhibition. Ballads can be written, with or without Gods permission. My story's old, ten thousand fold, though still I steal this moment. And as I stand with pen in hand, Read not, for these words, are unimportant. The next day, I wake with sorrow. My mind's a troubled soul, If I'm a a poet I 'm cloaked in treason. " thank God it's not the times of ole'. Every little sweet treat, I see, I swallow. I never cared where my body lands. I walk atop the ocean, And I swim deeply in the sand. Innocence and coffee Sunsets and skies of blue. Cigarettes, and Satan, Reminds me of my twisted youth. Be careful, don't hurt her, She's the Angel of the hour. Innocence and coffee. Originality, a fable written in denial. © 2016 steven sundellFeatured Review
