Thunder Birds

Thunder Birds

A Poem by Steven Pottle

You move me lightly
Just like the sky that follows fast clouds
You turn me into this thing –
Some kind of creature that stalks the air

It rumbles through you
It manages to upset the cart
With every sudden thunder
That pumps blood to every part

With twisted shape shifting
The earth shatters and is drifting
It flies up and around
And we still stand tall, but not on ground

I also feel like flying
Just like a bird chasing and migrating
You’ve turned me into this thing –
The creature that stalks the air.

Such an imaginative poem. I love mythical creatures and the thunder bird is a great way to explain the phenomenon of lightning. Great job!
