The Same, But Different

The Same, But Different

A Poem by Steven Pottle

I felt so tired last year
My brain wanted to lift weights
But my body was worn away
Limbs seemed dead for near on two years
My searching days were low numbered
I felt so tired

And then…

So here’s some advice for surviving the nights
Lay away from the side that your heart is on
You don’t want to lay heavy on your blood pumping strong
Keep some of your dreams secret, try not to tell everyone
And the day that they become real, those people will finally see what you dreamed and always wanted to be…
You don’t look the same
But your face can be still be in the frame
You don’t sell what you used to
But there’s still people interested in you

I’m not sure how I feel now
My brain tells me lies and cries-
“Your body has worn away”
But my body hasn’t really died, it was just laying low
My finding days are beginning to reappear…
And suddenly I don’t feel so tired here.
