Film Number Five

Film Number Five

A Poem by Steven Pottle

So you compare your life to a horror film
And I’ll bet that there will be a sequel
They are going to run with this one
So I hope that you are alive
By film number five…

You wear a disturbed mask
To attack only yourself
So turn your tired back
And remove another bloody axe

Knocking at more doors for the promise of the good things inside
No answer, feel empty and you’re left wanting to kill something
But I’ll wait up for you to keep good company
Bringing hope to your life
And so join me on the ground
And tonight I will die with you again …

You compared your life to a horror film
And yes, there was a sequel
Not the rich money spinner that we first thought
So sorry that you never survived
Before film number five
But you know that you were always my favourite one.

"tonight I will die with you again" - what a great line. this provoked a great amount of thoughts and ideas in my had, and just rung out above the rest of the poem.

a original, unexplored idea, that i found a pleasure to read. very nice.
