Chapter 13: Home of the raging red raccoon’s pt. 1

A Chapter by Steven Ingels

Early in the morning the Rizzo family was scrambling around getting ready for their first day of work and school Breakfast was more like a grab and go kind of thing that morning. Olivia came down stairs putting on her shoes when Mr. Rizzo came up to her, “Did you wake up Roscoe?” Olivia smiled, “uh he’s not in his room.” Mr. Rizzo’s face turned red, “What!” Leonide turned to Noreen, “Uh did you know Roscoe isn’t here.” Noreen shrugged, “No I didn’t.” Leonide shook his head, “Dam does anyone know where he is.” Tatiana quickly raised her hand, “I do.” Leonide smiled, “You sure you do.” “Yes” Tatiana gave a nod, “He got up early and went with Mr. Steele. I think he was going to school. The family was stunned when they heard Roscoe was at school early in the morning. Mrs. and Mr. Rizzo expected to get there son up by forcing him out of bed, but doing it by himself was a change for the both of them.

Red Star High school

Monday 6:45 A.M.

Getting dropped off at School Roscoe reluctantly went into school with his bag of Kim Castle donuts. He reached into the bag and realized that there was nothing in there. Guess talking to Grady about life made him hungry. Throwing the bag away in the trash can he walked down the hall when he heard his name. Turning around he saw a man in a suit coming up to him with his arm extended, ‘Hello I’m Daniel Blake Bright or as the students called me Principal Bright.

This man makes you think of a happy singing bird. He has large blue eyes that are like two turquoises. His thick, straight, black hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a burning fire. He's got a moustache. He is very tall and has an over muscled build. His skin is white. He has bushy eyebrows and a small mouth. His wardrobe is unusual, with a lot of green and black.

“Sup” Roscoe gave a nod.” “Not much” Principal bright folded his arms, “Just excited that you are here.” Roscoe smirked scratching his head, “Why is that?” Principal Bright smiled from ear to ear, “because it’s Red Star’s 50th anniversary and we do a lot of cool stuff.” It sounded like it was going to be boring like going to carnival, but all it had was two swings and a clown that did balloon animals. “Well count me out.” Oh come on” Principal bright threw up his hands, “Don’t me a poor sport there are a lot of fun things you will be able to do” Roscoe thought that the principal was too happy for nothing, “okay so where’s the office at.” Principal bright pointed behind him, “Just down there and don’t be shy and meet some people it will be good for you, go Raccoons” Principal Bright walked off the hall. Roscoe shook his head, “Now that’s a flamer” Roscoe turned and walked to the office.

Walking into the office it smelled like someone left fish out for days. He walked up to the counter and looked at the name tag, “Alana Gilbert.” “Yes how may I help you” an older lady came up to the counter with a friendly face.

This intelligent lady has large eyes the color of the afternoon sky. Her silky, straight, brown hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a fluttering flag. She has a lean build. Her skin is cream-colored. She has bushy eyebrows and small hands. Her wardrobe is businesslike, and is completely green.

“Um” Roscoe folded is hands on the counter, “I’m here to pick up my schedule,” Oh” Mrs. Gilbert happily said, “you must be Roscoe, let me get on my computer and print it out just one minute” Mrs. Gilbert turned her computer on. Roscoe turned around looking up at the wall and saw all the sports championships on the wall. Baseball was one of the top ranking sports there, “Okay Mr. Rizzo” Roscoe turned around, “Look at it and see if we need to change anything.

Mr. Lee                  English                  8:00 9:05               Rm 24

Ms. Cummings     Math                       9:15 10:30             Rm324

Mrs. Sweeny         History                  10:35 11:55          Rm234

Lunch                11:55 12:35

Mr. Holt                 Health                    12:40 1:30             Rm326

Mrs. Grimes         PE                           1:35 2:30               Rm 1

Mr. Moon              Band                       2:35                        Rm 325

Roscoe shrugged thinking that the schedule was fine even though he didn’t care for any of the classes, “Yeah its fine.” “Great” Mrs. Gilbert smiled, “Now just one second I’m going to get someone to walk you to your first class” Roscoe was just about to say no but Mrs. Gilbert was already walking to an office. Roscoe set his head on the counter feeling sick. He wasn’t about to throw up he just felt like there was something in his stomach. Mr. Rizzo” Roscoe lifted his head up when his world just came to a sudden halt when he saw a African American girl standing there with her books in her hands

This intimidating girl has hooded blue eyes. Her thick, curly, very short hair is the color of fine gold, and is worn in an utilitarian, severe style. She has a feminine build. Her skin is black. She has hollow cheeks and thick eyebrows. Her wardrobe is weird.

“This is Betty Cruz she is one of the leaders of the school and she will be showing you around.” Sweet” Roscoe said licking his lips.” Betty rolled her eyes walking out from the counter, “Follow me” saying it sadly.” Oh Roscoe” Mrs. Gilbert cleared her throat, “Remember that we don’t tolerate drugs on this campus so keep it to a minimum” Roscoe gave ah half smile knowing exactly what she was saying, “Gotcha” Roscoe grabbed his schedule and ran out of the office to catch up with Betty

“So Betty you got a boyfriend.” Betty quickly stopped walking and shook her head disgusted by Roscoe, “look I’m not just some booty call I have morals and no I don’t have a boyfriend. Dam my bad” Roscoe cleared his throat, “Just trying to get to know you” Betty shook her head, “I doubt that I know guys like you. Just wanting every girl in their pants a night. Well guess what I’m not that kind of girl” Roscoe had never gotten this speech before and he couldn’t really do anything about it, “okay I’m sorry didn’t mean to offend you.” Betty sighed, “Well thank you um I’m pretty sure you can find your way to your class” Betty quickly walked off. Roscoe sighed ruining his first impression with the first girl he met at the new school. He walked down the hall to his first class

Walking into his first class seeing that it was still early because no students were in the class. The teacher spotted him and took his glasses off, “Hey you must be Roscoe.”

This guy puts you in mind of a darting fish. He has hooded ash-gray eyes. His fine, straight, sand-colored hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a burning fire. He has a narrow build. His skin is white. He has an elegant nose and high cheekbones. His wardrobe is tight and uncomplicated, with a mostly black and red color scheme

Yeah where do I sit Mr. Lee? Mr. Lee shrugged, “Anywhere you want, so do you smoke” Roscoe smirked thinking that was a weird question for a teacher to ask him, “Smoke what?” A-ha” Mr. Lee smiled from ear to ear, “you smoke weed and cancer. That’s cool except for the cancer part.” Roscoe smirked, “but you’re a teacher.” Mr. Lee nodded his head, “I am but what they don’t know they won’t find out unless you’re a snitch” Roscoe shook his head, “Hell no I’m far from that.” Good” Mr. Lee said, “So I heard that you were in a lot of trouble back at your old place. You going to make a change.” Roscoe shrugged, “I don’t know, maybe.” Mr. Lee thought for a moment, “Well tell you what Mr. Rizzo you read the morning announcements in the morning to the class and I’ll teach you how to write the perfect essay” another deal for Roscoe he thought about it thinking that he wouldn’t have to sweat over it, “Sounds boring, but I guess I’ll do it” Mr. lee gave a nod, “cool let’s get started, pull up a chair” Mr. Lee walked over to his desk taking a stack of line paper out of the bin on his desk. Roscoe dropped his head and walked over there knowing this would be a long day.

In the back of the classroom slouching in his seat Roscoe watched the students come in. all of them looked the same from his old school.  Mr. Lee sat on his desk folding his arms in his lap just at the bell rang. He waited for the students to be quiet before talking, “Alright fellow readers I hope you read the summer’s shadow this weekend and if you didn’t well that’s your grave because were having a test today” most of the students moaned. “When are you going to show the bagger” shouted a student” Mr. Lee looked in the middle row knowing exactly who said it, “Well Mr. Tork” folding his arms, “I’ll show the bagger when you show me you know how to pick up a pen and do the work I assign you” some of his friends pushed him around, but Mr. Tork swiped his hand like he didn’t care.

Mr. Lee rubbed his hands together, “Anyways while you guys were partying this weekend a new student has arrived on campus, Roscoe please stand up and introduce yourself” The whole class turned around watching Roscoe stand up. Roscoe felt like he was in court waiting for his hearing. Roscoe sighed standing up throwing up his arms, “What am I supposed to say.” Mr. Lee smiled, “just say where you’re from, how old are you and what you like to do in your spare time.” Roscoe gave a nod, “Okay I’m Roscoe but you can call me Ace” A couple of girls smiled and giggled, “I moved here from California and what I like to do in my spare time” shrugging, “Well that’s simple is making woman happy” loud roar’s and grunts came from most of the guys in class

Mr. Lee gave a nod, “Good to know” Roscoe sat back down in his chair, “well you guys know what to do and don’t do anything stupid Mr. Tork.” Mr. Lee walked around his desk and sat down organizing the tests for today.” While everyone was getting out there work Roscoe was looking at a girl on the side of him. She wore different clothing, but she was good for his taste, “Hey I’m Roscoe Rizzo.” The girl looked over with a half-smile, “Bobbi J Strickland.”

This girl puts you in mind of a cobra waiting to strike. She has wide blue eye. Her thick, straight charcoal colored hair is in a style of a birds wing. She is tall and has a curvy build. Her skin is light colored. She has an upturned nose and large feet. Her wardrobe is professional

“Wait your name is Bobbi” Roscoe smirked, “Not all girls have a guy’s name.” Bobbi sighed thinking this wasn’t happening again, “Not all guys are dick’s Roscoe” Roscoe shook his head, “you don’t even know me.” Yeah and I plan to keep it that way.” Roscoe shrugged, “Whatever your loss.” Bobbi threw her head back, “How is it my loss you’re the one that was trying to flirt with me. Wow you don’t know nothing about girls.” “Uh yes I do” Roscoe said with confidence, “Then tell me one thing that a girl loves to do.” Roscoe thought for a moment, “Well um…” Bobbi shook her head as Roscoe pondered on what they liked to do but couldn’t find one. He just got punked by a girl that he barely knew.

Roscoe stopped thinking about what Bobbi asked him so he just fell asleep during class. He suddenly awoke when the bell rang. Wiping his face with his hands he got up and walked to the front. Mr. Lee flagged Roscoe over, “Mr. Rizzo how did you sleep.” Roscoe shrugged, “Good I guess, what’s up?” Mr. Lee pushed the summer’s shadow to the front of the desk, “the summer’s shadow it’s about two young students who go to their grandparent’s ranch and work for the summer. It’s a very interesting book and I think you’ll like it” Mr. Lee saw Roscoe’s disappointed look, “Come just read three chapters and write a brief summary about it that’s all you have to do.” Roscoe sighed, “Is there any way you could let me have a free pass.” Mr. Lee shook his head, “Sorry bud can’t just get this done as fast as you can.” Roscoe took the book, “whatever man” Roscoe walked out of the classroom throwing his head back.

As soon as he walked out of the classroom he was shoved against the locker. He balled his fist up ready to fight when he realized it was Karman, “Dam girl when do you start working out.” Karman shook her head folding her arms, “Don’t play with me roscoe. Where did you actually go this morning?” Roscoe smirked, “Oh so is this what this is about. Why does it matter?” It doesn’t” said Karman.” Roscoe drowned is eyebrows, “So you decided to push me against the locker to tell me it doesn’t matter very original Kar” Karman hated when people shortened her name, “Don’t call me that.” Roscoe smiled, “Oh my bad kar kar” Karman threw her head back, “f**k you.” No f**k you” Roscoe said, “you know what stay out of my life” Karman said, “I wanted to apologize to you, but never mind you still haven’t changed” Karman shook her head with disappointment as she walked off, “B***h” Roscoe said as he took his schedule out looking at the next class he had to go too.

Walking into 2nd period Mrs. Cummings came right up to Roscoe, “I’m Mrs. Cummings you do what I say when I say it. There is no fooling around at all. If I catch you cheating, talking or chewing gum I will give you detention.” Roscoe couldn’t believe that Ms. Cummings was already telling him what to do, “Dam lady somebody woke on the wrong side of the bed.” Ms. Cummings shook her head, “As a matter of fact I didn’t. I just hate kids who think they can get away with anything” Roscoe shrugged, “Whatever lady” Roscoe walked away from her going to the first row. He sat down getting comfortable when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Roscoe sighed turning around seeing a kid that kind of looked like a street thug.

This gentleman makes you think of a benevolent angel. He has narrow green eyes that are like two pools of stagnant water. His fine, wavy, medium-length hair is the color of charcoal, and is worn in an exotic style. He is tall and has a wide-chested build. His skin is pale. He has knobby ears and long-fingered hands. His wardrobe is practical, and is mostly green and gray.

“What’s up” Roscoe gave a nod,” Sup man Emery Compton heard you were in a gang.” Roscoe looked around seeing if anyone was looking, “how would you know that.” Emery smiled, “Because word gets around in the black hoods” Roscoe drowned his eyebrows, “what in the hell are the black hoods” Roscoe figured it was another gang, “The clouds are black, the shades are sealed let the inspiration shine bright with color.

Roscoe smirked, “What kind of stupid quote is that?” Emery licked his lips fidgeting in his chair, “it’s the quote that the black hoods say when they want to be inspired.” Roscoe sighed, “What are the black hoods some kind of gang or something.” Nah man” Emery shook his head, “we are a graffiti team ever heard of GPI (Graffiti paint industries) it’s not big yet, but it will be.” Roscoe thought for a moment, “Really do you have any room for any more.” Emery Shrugged, “Not really sure I have to ask.” “Ask” Roscoe said, “And get back to me.” Will do” Emery gave a nod, “So have you ever killed anyone before.”

Roscoe sighed about to talk when the door slammed and all the noise that was in the room went quiet as Ms. Cummings walked around the class, “Students this is a place for learning and knowing what you want in the future. Even though your freshman there is room for more. Mr. Rizzo what is your favorite mathematical problem.” Roscoe smirked at the stupid question, “don’t have one.” Ms. Cumming shook her head, “Oh come on my favorite is trigonometry. There has to be one that you absolutely love.” Roscoe thought for a moment and then smiled at what he was about to say, “You know those triangles that show what number is bigger that is mine if you know what I mean” The class sure did and Ms. Cummings had to think about it when she finally caught on, “Oh so your Mr. funny guy.  This is for a place to study not a playground full of p***y, so if you don’t mind get your head out of the gutter and pay attention in this class or you’ll be spending summer school with me” Roscoe sighed a Ms. Cummings looked away from Roscoe and started to talk to the class about what they were doing the rest of the week.

Finally after the boring class Roscoe quickly got out of his seat and walked out of the room and waited by the lockers. As soon as he spotted his target he stepped right in front of her, “Hey beautiful how would you like to be with the king.”

This clever lady has hooded blue eyes that are like two turquoises. Her thick, wavy, yellow hair is very long and is worn in an uncomplicated, severe style. She is short and has a thin build. Her skin is cream-colored. She has full lips. Her wardrobe is mysterious.

The girl smiled oh my I never met a king before. I can’t wait to be your queen so we can have kids” she smiled from ear to ear” Roscoe thought he could pull this girl in with a trick, but she seemed to catch on pretty fast, “Wow I feel stupid.” The girl gave a nod, “You should just because I’m short and blond doesn’t make me stupid.” Roscoe scratched the back of his neck feeling nervous, “Well I know that know, I’m Roscoe by the way” Hoping the girl would introduce herself to him. “Payton McClain and no my dad isn’t John McClain

Roscoe smirked thinking this girl was pretty cool, “Good to know um look I hope we can start over” Payton smiled, “Sure there’s always room for second, third and fourth chances.” “Well what if they don’t deserve it” Asked Roscoe.”  Payton smiled, “it’s how the person presents themselves good or bad” Roscoe pondered on what she just said and he never really thought about it that way, “Interesting” The bell rang and Payton sighed, “I hope we can catch up some other time, bye Roscoe” the conversation ended quickly and Roscoe did want to talk to her more, but she was gone in a flash. The people in this town were very strange he wondered if he was going to meet anyone normal.

Walking into his third period Roscoe stopped stunned by what Mrs. Sweeny was wearing. She turned away from the white board and walked over to him.

This lady puts you in mind of an impenetrable fortress. She has narrow purple eyes that are like two amethysts. Her fine, curly, white hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a crown. She has an angular build. Her skin is cream-colored. She has an elegant nose. Her wardrobe is dignified.

“Hallo have you seen any Sweeny lately” Roscoe smirked knowing exactly what kind of language she was using, “No just buckskins on the skirts they were venting our gall.” Mrs. Sweeny smiled from ear to ear, “so I see you speak the 19th century language.” Roscoe shrugged, “Yeah I used to.” Mrs. Sweeny folded her arms interested in why Roscoe stopped, “Well what made you stop.” Roscoe thought for a moment thinking if he should tell her what happened to him, but she probably already knew, “Just didn’t have an interest in it anymore.” Hm” Mrs. Sweeny nodded her head, “Well I’m looking forward to teaching the old ways, “Can’t Wait” Roscoe said as he turned away from Mrs. Sweeny and walked down a row sitting down in the middle realizing that they were three fine looking woman In the back, side, and in front.

Roscoe cleared his throat turning around to the first girl, “Hey I’m Roscoe.”

This woman makes you think of a curious squirrel. She has almond-shaped brown eyes that are like two patches of dried blood. Her silky, wavy, chocolate-colored hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a bale of hay. She has a lithe build. Her skin is tan. She has a hooked nose and nearly-nonexistent eyebrows. Her wardrobe is professional, with a lot of blue and white.

The girl looked up and smiled, “Brianna Thompson” She looked back down at her work, “Well Brianna why don’t you come over to my place and we could play a little tonsil hockey.” Brianna looked up with a disgusted face, “How about you drop dead.” Roscoe quickly turned away from her knowing she wasn’t going either, but that didn’t stop him from talking to the next girl, “Hey I’m Roscoe.” The girl sighed already knowing what Roscoe was playing, but she just played along, “Ryder Walls.”

This energetic lady has deep-set brown eyes that are like two patches of dried blood. Her thick, wavy, brown hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a plume of smoke. She has a thin build. Her skin is black. She has nearly-nonexistent eyebrows. Her wardrobe is dignified.

Roscoe licked his lips, “Well why don’t you ride on this…” before he could finish Ryder slapped him in the face, “no thank you” She said going back to her work. Roscoe rubbed his cheek thinking she was a b***h for slapping him in the face. He had one more to do, but she turned around and slapped on the other side, “Raven Reid and if you make and other sexual comments to me I will put you in a head lock, am I clear?”

This girl makes you think of a sturdy tree. She has beady brown eyes. Her silky, wavy, obsidian hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a lion's mane. She has an amazonian build. Her skin is cream-colored. She has a high forehead. Her wardrobe is risque, and is mostly brown and blue.

Roscoe rubbed both of his cheeks, “Crystal.” Roscoe sat back in his seat when Mrs. Sweeny started talking, “Hello my knights and princesses I hope you did your homework on the kingdom of Zaw. If you didn’t then I’m putting you in a guillotine” She laughed at her own joke, “Anyways we have a new student, Sir Roscoe Rizzo

Oh” Raven raised her hand, ‘he doesn’t need any introduction. We already know he’s a player.” Roscoe smirked, “S**t you don’t know anything about me.” Raven turned around, “oh I don’t so you never drug a girl and tried to rape them” Roscoe threw his head back at that ridiculous assumption, “Hell no I don’t do that.” Raven nodded her head thinking for a moment and the class was in tuned with their conversation,”oh my bad let me change that you pay to have sex with woman.” Once he did, but he was drunk and on acid, but she didn’t have to know that, “Listen here you infested disease” Stop!” Mrs. Sweeny shouted, but Raven took that one comment to heart. She grabbed her stuff and ran out of the room, “Good job” Ryder said as she and Brianna got out of their seats and went after their friend.

“Now Roscoe” Mrs. Sweeny folded her arms walking up to Roscoe, “Was that necessary.” Roscoe shrugged, “no, but if you assume something that isn’t true you’re in the right to say something to them.” Mrs. Sweeny shook her head, “Consider this a warning and try to be nice to her she’s been through a lot these past years.” So have I roscoe wanted to say, but kept it to himself.” Mrs. Sweeny walked back up to the room and handed out papers for the students to do.

During class Mrs. Sweeny was on her computer while the students worked. Roscoe was getting irritated because some kid was looking at him the whole time. Roscoe looked up and the kid quickly turned his head. Roscoe sighed getting out of his seat taking his paper with him and walked around the class. He went down the last row and cleared his throat, “Hey man” The kid almost jumped out his skin, “don’t hurt me” Roscoe drowned his eyebrows thinking of why the kid would say that and then he realized that the kid was him, “I’m not going to hurt you” Roscoe held up the paper, “Just want you to help me.”

The kid shook his head, “If I do your just going to beat me up.” Roscoe sighed, “Hey man I’m not going to beat you up, I’m Roscoe” The kid looked up at Roscoe seeing that Roscoe wasn’t going to hurt him.” Ervin Price” Ervin said with confidence, “Wow you’re the first person who doesn’t want to bully me.” Roscoe shrugged, “Yeah well I’ve been there before.” Ervin smiled, “Really how.” Roscoe dropped his head not wanting to tell his story, “look man how about this when I see a person trying to pick on you remember I always have your back.” Ervin thought for a moment, “That’s not a good idea, you might get beat up too.” Roscoe shook his head, “no, no I won’t just trust me on this. Roscoe saw Ervin eyes light up like fireworks. He wondered if this was such a good idea to help this kid out.
