Daddy's VacationA Poem by SteveFive o' clock, time to go! Grab your bags honey, before you go. Did you pack enough for nate? Kiss me quick so your not late. Go on to jersey to visit our family. Show off our son, rowdy and happy. Watch you pull away, down the drive, Waving from the porch, trying not to cry. Daddy goes inside the house, The whole place; quiet as a mouse. I sit down, thinking this will be fun. 4 hours later, bored, everything is done. I had swept the floor, and bagged the trash. Did the dishes, cleaned the table, sat on the couch and crashed. Nine o' clock, logged online, ten o' clock, time to dine. No one to cook for, daddy settles for soup, Afterward, went and sat on the front stoop. Two A.M. Tired cant sleep. Three.. Four... Woke promptly at nine, first time in a while. Alone in my house, I miss Nate's smile, miss mommy's laugh. Showered and dressed, worked in the yard. Go to work. Repeat.. Daddy's vacation is hard. He wants his son mommy, and wants his son. But, They are away, they deserve some fun. They'll be gone for four more days, I'll be here counting them. one by one, in the suns rays. Daddy keeps, cleaning and rearranging things. Feeds the cats and the fish, then work of all things. i guess these days may drag by, But they will be back, in a few days *sigh* I hope they have fun, I really do. They really deserve it, Daddy's "Vacation" will soon be through
