I Almost Died today

I almost died today.

It happened in an instant.

My light was green.

Suddenly Death’s specter.

His light was red.

No way to avoid the collision, 

I knew this to be true.

Less than a second but longer than eternity.

Knowing what was coming but helpless.

Impact.

Violence.

Lights.

But no sound.

Just a thought,

"This is it"

But I didn’t die today.

I walked away.
