Chapter Two-Anna

Finally done! Tell me what you think guys

"

My dreams have finally come true!

It’s not everyday you find a camp that defines everything that you stand for. It’s the only thing my mother and I bond over. We arent close, like, at all. Its sad really, but what can you do about it? And seeing as I have five other siblings, it’s a surprise that my mother knows I exist at all. Especially since I’m a middle child.

But anyway, this is so fantabulous! My mom will have to let me go! She knows this stuff is my life, and that if I don't go to it, a screaming match will occur. And nobody is better at screaming except me!

My phone beeped, signaling that someone had texted me. It was Danny! Maybe he got his mother to say yes! OMG that would be awesome! It would be a real bonding experience, you know? We may be best friends, but there still is so much about him that’s a mystery. I dont even really know what he likes, he’s so aloof at times. But he’s a man, so...no other explanation needed.

I opened the message and was instantly confused. Sentence upon sentence of utter nonsense, that’s the only way to describe this.

Swampy county got a moo to? Workingman Timothy, sue at us. Horrifyingly, undo no ape pea.

I stared at the text for a while, pondering what Danny sent me. There was nothing logical about it. While on their own they might form something logical, together it was gibberish.

Is Daniel high or something? Its either that or he’s officially lost his mind. I texted him back Excuse me?, trying to sound at least somewhat polite to the lunatic.

Take my advice, don’t provoke Danny. I’ve done it once, and let me tell you, I did not leave unscathed.

Danny texted back immediately, saying “What?” Why are men so clueless about everything. If I didn't know better, I’d swear they had some parasite that took the short term memory section of their brain. I rolled my eyes at his stupidity, and texted him back Dingus, go check your txt history!.

After a few moments, I received another text from him, Wth?! I didn’t send that. Then who the hell did? I’m no tech genius, but I’m pretty sure that when someone owns a phone, they’re the ones sending the dang texts!

I didn't bother texting back after that. It might have been one of his brothers, and I know how that feels. If the devil lived in this realm, he would take up residence in my brother, Tom. He is such a...brat! He always steals all my food! And nobody touches my food!

Reaching under my bed, I made sure that my cheesy puffs were still there, when my hand brushed up against something rough. After reaching far enough, I finally was able to grab it and brought it into the light. It looked like it was made out of onyx, and it looked extremely old. Like older than my grammy, and she’s old.

I could faintly make out what it was a statue of; it looked almost like a mermaid, but her head had been broken off. I don’t remember this, I mean, I think I would remember having a headless mermaid statue. It’s not something I would soon forget. I placed it on my nightstand, contemplating where I might have gotten it. Maybe my sister, Alana, had left it in here for me to fix and it got knocked under my bed? Why else would it be there?

I went down the hallway to her room and knocked lightly on her door. “Alana?” I asked. No answer. She better not be making out with her boyfriend! Again! It’s so not fair though! I’m sixteen and am hopelessly alone, while she’s 14 with dudes flirting with her constantly. Why did she have to be the one blessed with pretty genes? I seem to be lacking in that department.

Her door suddenly flew open, and she gave me her signature glare, signaling that I had interrupted something important. Her lipstick was smeared, and….ah crap. She wasn't wearing any pants! I tried to peek into her room, but Alana stepped out into the hallway, closing the door behind her.

“What do you want?!” she asked, her tone bitter. Whatever I had interrupted, apparently it had been very good.

“Is this yours?” I held up the statue for her to see, and she took it to get a better look.

She shook her head. “Nope, but I know mom has a collection of statuettes, could be hers. Now, don't bother me, I was doing homework.” Homework? What are you studying? The male anatomy. I would bet you a million dollars she was just about to have sex with her BF.

Before she could go do that, I looked her straight in the eye and said, “You better not be doing what I think you’re doing, young lady. You know better, and you may love each other, but that’s no excuse. What would Mom think?”

“You have no say in this! What makes you think that you have the right to meddle in my love life?! Especially since you know nothing about love. The only person who you love has never noticed your feelings, and Daniel never will! Just because I have someone who actually loves me doesn't mean you can take out your anger on me, you selfish b***h! Go make yourself useful and swim with the fishes!!!!!” She stormed into her room and slammed the door behind her. I heard her sobs through the door, and her boyfriend trying to console her. Picking up the statue that she dropped, I made my way back to my room.

It was only then did I break down into tears. My little sister, who was the only one in my family that I felt remotely close to, had basically just told me that I should go die. It felt as if my world was crumbling around me! And the sad part was, she was right. About Daniel. For two years now, I’ve had the biggest crush on him, and my attempts for him to notice my affections were for naught. He only saw me as a friend. I was stuck in the friendzone! Even this camp was an attempt to be alone with him, but knowing that he might not be able to go…

My tears stopped instantly when I heard my door open. Assuming that it was Alana, I said “Go away, you s**t! Haven't you done enough to ruin my life!”

“Anna…” a small voice said behind me. It was definitely not Alana, that’s for sure. It was male, but I couldn't make out who it was exactly. The person placed a hand on my shoulder, and I turned around to see Daniel staring at me with concern in his eyes. My tears instantly started again. This time I didn't even know why I crying. Maybe because seeing him reminded me that he still didn't return my feelings.

He sat on my bed next to me, and put an arm around my shoulder, hugging me close. I sobbed into his shoulder, hugging him back.

“It’s okay, Anna...don't listen to her. She’s young and foolish, but she is learning.”

“Wh..what?”

“I saw her boyfriend leaving a couple of minutes after your fight with her. She must have told him to go, ‘cause he looked pretty pissed.” My eyes widened as I realized what he was talking about. And…

I pulled away from him. “You heard the entire conversation??” I asked, my panic rising. That means he could’ve heard the part about my feelings for him...crap! He isn't the romantic type of guy. Multiple girls have asked him out, but he’s turned them all down.

He nodded. “Yeah, I did. All of it. And...I have to tell you something.” Here it comes. The rejection. I’ve gotten rejected by a few men before, but this will sting more than the others. Because I know once he rejects me, our friendship is as good as dead.

“I..I dont really know how to say this. I’ve never, umm, oh screw it!” And before I knew what he was doing, he pressed his lips up against mine, and sparks flew. Our tongues swept together, and it felt like pure heaven. I’ve never kissed a boy before, and I wouldn't have my first with anyone else.  Danny hugged me close to him, and his fingers tangled up in my hair. I didn't really know what to do, so I copied him. Who needs sex when you can just kiss this hottie!

He pulled away, my pink lipstick smeared on his lips. His cheeks were bright red, and I’m pretty sure mine were too. We didn't say anything for a few minutes, just sat there in awkward silence.

“Wow,” he finally said, “I...um, have to, uh, go.” He raced out of the room, closing the door behind him. I guess he didn't like it..

But the thing is, I loved it. It felt like fireworks, not just sparks! I guess he felt nothing, seeing as he left. Bt that fact didn't really faze me. Now that I know that he had some feelings for me, however minuscule!

At least something good happened today. Especially since I know now that Alana kicked her boy toy out! Serves him right for trying to get it on with my baby sister!

Since I was such in a good mood, I decided to finally call my other friend, Ashley. Since school ended a week or two ago, we haven't been in contact at all. And besides, she’s a fairy tale junkie too! We have entire club at school, but it’s kinda only four members. Danny, Ashley, her boyfriend, Jonathan, and I. Most people would say it’s “lame”, but we have free food, so HAH! And free food is the stuff, man, I mean, nothing is better.

She answered on the third ring. “Anna? That you?” she asked.

“Yeah! And let me tell you, I have news!

“Oh God, whenever you say you have news, that means it has something to do with food or fairy tales. God help us if it’s both at the same time.” Well, she’s not wrong, If those two things were at the same place, you would be crazy to think I wont be there.

“It's a fairy tale camp, bro! If you don't go, you’ll be a disgrace to the club if you don't drag yourself and your boyfriend there!”

“He’s not my boyfriend! We’ve established this many times!” Yeah, you tell yourself that. I see how you and him look at each other when you think nobody's watching. Not to mention you hang out with him everyday after our club meets. The clues are everywhere girl, you’ve just chosen not to listen to them.

“Will you at least think about the camp? C’mon, you know you want to go!”

I could practically see her rolling her eyes, but she knew I was right. “I’ll think about it, so no promises. Text me the site, ‘kay?”

“Gotcha! TTYL!”

“See ya!” I hung up and immediately texted her the link to the site. Ten minutes later, she texted me back saying Hell yeah I’m going here! Sounds amazing! I’ll force Jon to go, but you better make dan cuz he wont go w/out him. Yeah, but I dont even know if Danny can go. His mother is a little overprotective to say the least. I’m surprised she hasn't chipped them yet!

But my mother will let me go in a heartbeat. Anything to get me out of the house. She’ll probably barely notice I’m gone. One time when I was seven I ran away for a day, but chickened out and came home, and she didn't even notice I was gone. Some mother!

My bedroom door opened, and my mother stood there, holding the house phone out to me.

“It’s Daniel’s mother.” she said handing it to me. As soon as I took it, she left the room. See what I’m telling you! No love!

“Hi Mrs.Ross, to what do I owe the pleasure?”

“I was just calling to inform you that Daniel is able to attend the camp, but on one condition. Please, I’m begging you, keep him away from his father. I have a feeling he’ll want to go visit him, and I don’t want my baby to be hurt.” I thought Daniel hated his father? He made it seem that way every time he spoke of him. So why would he want to go see him?

“Of course I will, I would never want him hurt.”

She breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank you, sweetie. Now, I believe Daniel wanted to talk with you, hold on.” I heard footsteps through the phone and his mother saying “It’s Anna”.

“Anna? You still there?” Danny said. My heart skipped a beat the moment he began talking. Here comes the “I don't think this will work out, lets just be friends” speech.

“Yup. Whatcha need?” I asked, trying to sound as nothing had happened earlier.

“We need to talk.”
