War stained eyes (chapter one)

War stained eyes (chapter one)

A Story by Stephanie Miller

Aushjo stood at the foot of his bed, his ghostly white body was covered with castcading lights from outside. His fingers intertwined with his long, rust colored hair. Sweat rolled down his stone etched curves as he stared down at the lumpy, motionless bed. It was shaded with shadows from his eternal room. Finally, the sunshine broke through the blinds, fighting the shadows for a spot on the bed. The sun's rays won; not what Aushjo wanted. He turned away only to find a mirror mounted to an ancient dresser. He couldn't help but to gaze at his image. Shameful crimson eyes, three small drops of blood on either side of his face glistened with guilt. He looked away and began to walk out the doorway. His feet almost froze to the wooden floor. He managed to make it into the dark colored bathroom. He flipped on the lightswitch while grabbing a washrag off the rack above a the mirror. He turned on the water in the bathtub and took his boxers off while he waited for the shower to heat up. He stood motionless as steam began to roll around him. Images from the night before kept running through his mind over and over again; a broken record. "She asked me to; Hell she begged me too." He reached his hand into the path of the water and let it course through his fingers. "It's her curse now, as well as mine." He stepped into the shower and watched as the small amount of blood ran into the metallic drain. He put a dab of shampoo in his hair and scrubbed as hard as he could while letting the hot water beat on his pale angelic skin. "You know your not as quiet as you think you are." He rinsed the suds out of his his hair and shut off the water. A brown towel was thrown over the side of the shower curtain. "Yeah, well we can't all be amazing like you Aushjo." Aushjo wrapped the towel neatly around his perfectly shaped waist and stepped out onto the cold wooden floor. "Luciana, baby, how are you feeling?" He reached for her face, brushing her cheek gently with his fingers. She smiled showing her virgin white fangs. "I feel fine my love." Aushjo gazed at her. I love you Luciana, you know that right?" She smiled her soft smile. "I know sweetie." She wrapped her fingers around his, pulling herself closer to him, kissing his forehead. "How much...pain where you in?" Aushjo looked at luciana with intense love, pain, and sorrow. "Only a little bit." Aushjo cringed at the idea of his one true love being in pain. Then his stare darkened. "How much?" Luciana backed away slightly then stared down at the floor. "I wish I would have died during the change, but now I feel no pain." Aushjo gritted his teeth. Luciana could see his pain was greater than hers was. She gripped her arms around her lover, comforting him, kissing his neck and along his cheekbone. She kissed her way up to his ear and began to whisper. "My sweet angel, now we really are forever. Don't you see? We will never have to leave each other ever again." Aushjo's wet hair stuck to Luciana's face when she pulled away looking deeply into his bloodstained eyes then pursed her lips. "I'm hungry." Aushjo stared back at her then kissed her still pursed lips. "Then lets eat."
