I Am From

I Am From

A Poem by Stephen

I am from adventurous camping trips

From unexplainable sightings and, my best friend Cole

I am from the Chevron station at the mouth of Dead Indian and waxy chocolate donuts

From endless conversations on the drive to the Cabin, and building on the same fort for TEN YEARS!

I am from hunting for four years and never killing a thing

From being asked to just see if the wood we have gathered will split, but ending up splitting it all and the statement, “He really is a black.”

I am from the opposite…

From a love for music and bad decisions

I am from not following suit and breaking away

From skinny jeans and hitting the gym

I am from the idea of musical style

From wanting to book your own tour with you BFF for life and not being able to concentrate enough to write music together

I am from working with popcorn and no free weekends

From hating when a girl buys you something and for her, trying to live with it.

I am from her

From her pain to her laughter and her speechless words

I am from always knowing her feelings and not being able to help but feel the same

From our first kiss and our last

I am from the best thing to ever happen to me

From the look she gives me when I call her beautiful and her never believing me when I say it

I am from love.

I really enjoyed this. The simplicity of the idea but the depth of feeling. Very well written.
