By Our Side

By Our Side

A Poem by Stephen

By Our Side

Their footsteps walk among us

They’re here but yet not seen

Their voice is like a whisper

We know not what they mean

Sometimes we sit in silence

We speak to them each day

If they were right in front of us

Would we know what to say?

A journey full of wonder

Nowhere to run and hide

Just realize and accept the fact

They’re right there by our side

Hmmmmm! Could be angelic! Could be visitors from another planet. Could be from the realm of the dead! Or how about a co-existing society sharing our same planet? Now all these choices are out of my league. I am a simple man who believes in the Father, the Son and The Holy Ghost all occupying one presence. Now someone else might find that a little odd. Go figure what conjures up what faith means and explain that to a non-believer!

Yes, just "beyond the veil" we can sense our loved ones. There is a sense of comfort in that... Good flow and rhyme here, and a great topic well explored, Stephen.

I think this poem can be read in two ways: either in reference to the dead or to angels. |t makes sense to me if you're speaking about the dead, for those close to us who die stay with us every day. And that's a tough question - what would we say? If I've misinterpreted your poem, I hope you don't mind, poetry should be open to different interpretations - otherwise it's just dead on the page. Enjoyed this, thanks.

You are correct. I think of the dead (some of them) as angels. I also believe that all poetry is ope.. read more
