My Grandpa

My Grandpa

A Poem by Stephen

My Grandpa

He taught me how to tie my shoe

Without him what would I do?

He rode the bus to school with me

Without him where would I be?

He’d push me on my big wheel bike

Without him what would it be like?

I found out the day he died

It’s been so long, but I still cry.

He left this earth when I was seven

Now he waits for me in heaven.

This is a very touching piece, not to even mention well written. I think many can identify with that sort of heart-ache. I still think about my grandfather passing as well, knowing we were close, but there were so many things he had yet to teach me, and the goodbye we had was no proper goodbye at all. This poem just brought on too much. But thanks to this wonderful piece, I cried out the feelings I've been holding inside. Thank you so much for sharing this poem.

cherish the memories, because only you can keep them alive for they are your memories..
This is both lovely and poignant. Both my grandpa and grandma on my father and mother's side have now passed to the next level. They leave fond memories and a longing to see them again. Thank you for sharing.

It is the memories that keep them near to us everyday.
