Illuminated Bliss

Blissful days drenched in sunlit splendor,
Of music filling my ears and mind,
When everything felt right,

Still dance behind my eyes.

They whisper sweet things to me,
Tell me it'll be okay.

But when my eyes open and I no longer see,
The warmth of the days,
When I was finally happy,
They no longer comfort me,
When all I see,

Is dark nights spent wishing,
Hoping,
For sleep,
To carry me away,
To where I may dance and smile.

But for now I see nothing,
Nothing but broken dreams soaked in tears,
The shadows in the night,
Or the unspoken truth that we are alone,
But maybe we'll find a bit of peace for now,
If we close our eyes and wander,
To where we all can be free.
