FeastA Poem by StephMichelleDark late night thoughts
I pass my worth on a silver platter
A dinner plate where a place is set for everyone but me Left to starve on the floor and grovel like a dog While they poke and prod Delving fork and knife into my fleshy vulnerability Stabbing at my heart Eating away at my fragile self esteem “The meat’s too fatty” “Unsavory and undercooked” “What an ugly presentation” Never enough Never satisfying But they eat on Bite after bite till it’s gone And I’m left wasting away An empty and shallow carcass On the cold linoleum floor © 2018 StephMichelle |
