Double

Double

A Poem by StephMichelle
"

Dancing

"
I see double in the spotlight
transition between perception and reality
the depicted and the actuality
But I embrace this on stage

I'm not sorry to be vulnerable
vulnerable to your judgments
but my movements are not questions
more like statements
like how my arms declare their freedom
wingspan of an eagle
soaring over the roar of the onlookers
my feet stomp to rhythm
declaring my heartbeat
admitting my defeats and stepping to them proudly
It's adrenaline
It's expression
It's my confidence
my confessions
The bass has its hum
my heart is the drum
making my walls crumble and crack
But all that they see
is the one I set free
while the other me remains intact.
