Beauty Queen

Beauty Queen

A Poem by Seductively Sentimental

She's got hair like sunflower petals

riding waves to the small of her back.

Study shelves would be lined with medals

(if they gave out awards for that.)

Aqua set behind fluttering lashes

Almond eyes that reflect the stars

Hold your breath when a smile flashes

Lips as red as the crimson Mars.

Velvet skin that's a flirt with danger;

silky smooth and bereft of flaws.

Tempting curves that could hook a stranger,

leave him stranded in a shameless awe.

Heroine of a romance novel,

come to life from a Shakespeare play

On a whim she could make you grovel,

leave you glad that she glanced your way.

She's a rose in a winter meadow.

With a wink, she's a man's demise.

She's the sun in the darkest ghetto,

but her beauty has a haunting price.

Must admit, I'm altered jealous;

life to her is a pleasure stay.

What, with wealth and all the fellas,

'Beauty Queen' on her resume'

Then I see through her disposition

contradictions consume her soul.

Circumstance is a sad tradition;

loneliness plays a leading role.

Loathing what I then uncover-

threatened hope and a heart confined

Freedom lost is not recovered.

She's a life of the lifeless kind.
