I dreamed a dream before midnight.

I dreamed a dream before midnight.

A Poem by Steph K
"

In between dreams and reality.

"

Run, eyes down.

Torture ridden eyes

Don’t appeal.

Burn. Light the fire

The trinkets of yesterday

they hang and drag you down.

The necklace round your neck

You thought it once beautiful

Why now?

You leapt and reached

And begged and pleaded

Heck! You coaxed yourself.

Still, listless sleep.

You drank, you blinked

You took it in

Forgot yourself in between.

The wooden box that filled your dreams

That ate your soul, the delusional piece.

The urban, exotic mystery.

That travelled through with wandering beams

Stepped on, footprint. Unclean.

Faces of anguish, hidden by success,

Neglected unintentionally. Unseen.

What is left? (You, me, us) A tragic mess.

For me, this is a fascinating insight into the temperature of subconscious thoughts. I don't know if it's rational or irrational to dream, but I dream at night and am a daydreamer too.

Very interesting.........you have what you thought you wanted, now it is no longer beautiful to you. You sought out the mystery, opened the box and the contents make you shiver. Now, here we stand with what we wanted and the answers and neither of us like what we see. Bravo!
