In a fairyland of weeds there is still a hopeful seed.

In a fairyland of weeds there is still a hopeful seed.

A Poem by Steph K
"

A friend's story

"

Its cloudy really, a fairyland

Where mushrooms roam round free.

And sometimes they have fairy cakes

Powdered dust that you can see.

The fairies over-think

Overlook and oversee,

Mellow yellow, pink and green

A magical visionary.

And when the leprechaun plague arose

To whom did fairies run?

Little shrooms swept up by brooms,

Lines gleaming under suns.

In the foggy valley

Where the stars forgot their place,

They lost their roaming luster

In a wiggly, wound up maze.

The leprechauns took over

Ruled happy, rich and green

And flies, they flew out under

Empty wallets, grey, that gleamed.

Round and round the bushes

The fairies danced along

Till they came to endless wonder

Singing little made-up songs

Alas! With fate and hunger

Her cruel faceless dreams

No wonder, pink and luster

Just painful, torn-up seams.

Sometimes I do too wonder

Ponder about endlessly

Dear friend, look now yonder

Together. We are here for thee.

Wow, I could see it unfolding, the beginning the middle, and the hope in the end...
Few seeds remain fertile, but there is always a few that flourish.
Sad how addiction ruins the life off the person and all those who surround, I have personally experiened that one addiction may be "cured" but oddly enough seems to be replaced with another sort of addiction, even if its less harmful than the last.
And this is for the lucky ones...
Very very creative way to write on a subject as painful as this, but you did it well.

Very kewl, reminded me of a trippy fairy tale and as they are with an undercurrent of dark this had a touch as well... :)

Amazing wordplay! I got so caught up in it, I reread it in context of "addiction," and find this to be a wonderfully-crafted work. Excellent job!!!

There is a longing enchanted darkness here.. Through it all, there is that thread of friendship that is so vital.. to have people there.. always.

It's a very clever way you've portrayed the journey of addiction. Nice job.

Addiction is never a fun thing, and your paint such a fantastic ..(for lack of a better word) mental "trip" that said friend experienced. Very powerful images. Two thumbs up.
