The Journey

The Journey

The Journey

Trapped inside eternal circles,

wheels within wheels

with no end and no beginning;

they ramble along going nowhere

on an invisible track

that doesn’t exist,

unconnected they have no rhythm

but to rumble and grumble

in defiance of my made deafness,

and there are no horizons

in the discomfort of blindness

if I acknowledge their screams

some will thrive and sing freedom

others will find another path

and seek me out again

when I travel on their road

as I slowly cripple the wheels

the circles stop turning,

echoes escape seeking my heart

in awesome artistic whispers

I can deny them no longer

for I am their soul carpenter,

designer, and seamstress

thus I sew their threads together,

weaving smooth beautiful love laces.

Fulfilled in their purpose

they sprawl on fresh white sheets

for discerning eyes to savour

then, weep at their woven beauty.

Words.

So beautifully written. Love the part where you bring it all together with “ I can deny them no longer
for I am their soul carpenter,
designer, and seamstress
thus I sew their threads together,
weaving smooth beautiful love laces”

Words....they are our paints, aren't they? Each letter holding an important place in each word. Your use of sprinkled alliteration is so lovely....keeps the flow of the poem going. Sometimes they can frustrate us and other times they flow freely. I enjoyed the poem, Stella. Lydi**

I’ve never thought of words that way but it is true. They rarely have a direct path and change as quickly as they are thought of.
