Damsel in Distress

Damsel in Distress

A Poem by Steffeek

Deep below my outer side,

snuggled within my inner side;

Through my heart you stabbed a stake,

causing my small soul to break.

Without a soul my mind is free,

safe from the horrid thoughts of thee.

My heart is gone and of that I'm sure,

now all the emotions slowly blur.

No longer do I see Prince Charming,

I know you're a beast who's quite alarming.

Nothing to do with you ever again,

My new life is ready and waiting to begin.

As my mind begins to sharpen,

and my thoughts begin a clearin';

I meet a new guy who's turning the wheels,

and before I know it I'm head over heels.

Whoops! There goes the beat of my heart,

and again I am playing the part.

Oh, so wretched and rotten I do confess,

of that stupid damsel in distress.

the circle of life...
how things change from one moment to the next...
you certainly show it in this poem.
great twist on the fairy tale theme... you carried it past what most do.
excellent idea and execution.
