The Sands

The Sands

A Poem by Lord Vanilly

If eyes, they say, are the windows to the soul

Then lies must be the curtains that cover them

If our lives must eventually come to an end

I refuse to believe there is nothing more absolute than death

Even after we go down into dust and fall through the hourglass

The sands of time will know who we were and what we shared

They will know what we had and what we had not, but didn’t care

They will see, and know that we cannot be contained by mere glass

And someday in that grey void where all dead things go

Should fate chance upon us and we meet once more

Our particles will linger, feeling like they’ve met before

And share one last dance across the surface of the water

Before pulling away with the wind, and part ways forevermore.

WOW. This is absolutely beautiful. I saw on your page that you only recently got into poetry and if that is the case I can't wait to see what you will do with practice! Beautifully written and such a true sentiment. Love this. Great Job!!
