last candle

last candle

A Poem by Steeven

lit

candle

guarded

circled

navigated through

sleeping dragons

woken witches

animated villians

as wick rose

cat-tails

from brackish waters

frost i only remember

scent

of

flame

to weak wax

the aroma of an

apocolypse

nastalgic

pepper and garlic salad

if one wanes

wax

the (an)other

i've watched the tides

jetties still

break, each thought

every minute

i know it's not just me

feeling fish captured-words learned

"caught it so skin it"

could i shiver

my

cavier

loose?

so valuable you...

when there is no upstream

giving up doesn't seemso...

candle

extuingished

on the same river bank

i travel light

i think of wishes

too heavy for you

i will walk

or

be silent rock

let your walk

tread upon me

one way or another

there's no

bettering you

Bang bing bang. The images and allusions come in fast and slippery and then, the end, the K.O. Thought provoking and brave, with wit and emotion. Really appreciated this piece. Thanks.

I wonder if you meant the "a" in "nastalgic''. Perhaps.
