goodbye tampa ave

goodbye tampa ave

A Poem by Steeven

(1) the flowers dropping                (2) (brilliant red yellow in 3 am street)

(3) from your lips                  (4) (pursed and ready now

(5) are deafening                            crouching settled cat prepared to pounce

            onto my rodent tongue)

(6) i collect the petals                 (7) (between quiet poet fingers)

(8) slip them beneath

(9) your tongue                      (10)        (with youth boy eyes and ease of surgeon sliding scalpel)

 (11) so you always                       (12)    (until the stars are claimed as colonies)

(12) speak so sweetly                (13)   (young girl's laugh tears trailing along flower

(14)  to me.  to leaf then stem falling over my pinched fingers

as i hold you, like old man does his dreams)
