Martyr

Martyr

With hands clasped together
On your knees with eyes closed
Speak to the one who loves you
Someone greater than you can imagine
Do not doubt this presence
No doubt that He
Could banish you from heaven

Repent and save your soul
Pray and give up your control
It is easier to say
It is the Will
Than to realize
The world is decayed

Follow the rules
If you want to get through the door
Follow the rules
Or be condemned by your Lord

Sympathize with the martyr
Cry at his demise
Say he was the forsaken one
Don’t open your eyes
And realize
He wasn't the only one
Who was crucified

Don't you burn
Burn away in Hell
Don't you learn
To think for yourself
Dangerous is this open mind
Blasphemy is to remove fear from your life

Be afraid until you die
Try to keep Christ in mind
Ignore that you feel empty inside
Embrace the lies
As the motions get harder
You have become like your holy one
A martyr.

This is about the tragedy that I perceive in the Christian religion. Offensive to some, hard hitting to others, it is about an issue that continues to baffle me.
