Smile

Smile

A Poem by StarryNights

Tell me to smile, and I'll try my best

Tell me to love, here I'll give you my heart

Tell me to lie, but I'll give you the truth

I'm head over heels, a tumbling mess

The grass stains on my jeans

The dirt smudges caked on my skin

Scratches down my arms and legs

Then a cage to capture my beating heart

Sleeping alone was never the same

I could never know you and still want you as mine

I could find you in a crowd and meet your sweet lips

Our days are dreams that reality hates

The envy, meant to be as spoken by the Fates

Breathe it all in, let it all go

Baby I've fallen like a lost, wandering angel

You're my heaven; my paradise lost

Tell me you're sorry, I'll say it's alright

Forgive what you love, forget all that pain

Tell me you love me, since I've given you my heart

Tell me to stay, but I never even left

This is the place I could live

Forever in this wonderful state

Kiss the world goodnight

And enter the harmonious beat

Tell me to smile, I've been laughing all the time
