The Call in the Night

The Call in the Night

A Poem by Starrweaver
"

A bit of humor for those that have dealt with such things as calls in the middle of the night.

"

Sound asleep, the clock chimes three,

In peaceful slumber I dream happily,

When into my restful night comes a ringing,

The noisy clanging loud and clear in the dark

somewhere.

Half awake I jump up from my bed,

Seeking to silence the insistent shrieking,

My bed lamp tilts then hits the floor..."Crash!"

The edge of the table finds my knee with a resounding

"Crack!"

Muttering curses, (best not put in print)

I try to reach the source of that merciless ringing!

At last I grasp it, the silence so sweet,

Who is it, I ponder as I rasp "Hello" into the phone,

Wanting to cry when I hear the dial tone.

Yea, you got to hate that. Been there. Great little write. :) I remember get a prank call at two in the morning one time from two girls (sounded like teenagers). We ended up talking for almost two hours over goofy stuff by the time it was all said and done. Anyway, I like this.
