Earth-songA Poem by StarrweaverPoem I wrote some years ago. Was published in anthology of nature poems.
The soft coo of doves at dawn's first light,
Soft buzz of bees as the day begins,
Crickets chirp as a red robin sings,
In a nest her young cheep for their food,
Grey squirrels race with a-chatter,
As fox kittens mew for a meal.
The leaves whisper secrets to the wind,
Of new life born this spring morn,
While shiny black eyes gaze in wonder,
At frogs crocking on a moss hill,
A hunting hawk cries as she circles,
The thumping of the hare says, "Beware!"
A whippoorwill calls its mate to roost,
As the hoot owl rustles its feathers in waking,
The music goes on; it's just the melody changing.
