Years

Years

A Poem by Starlit

The years have gone by, yet the memory remains

My life has changed, but my heart feels the same.

I pushed you out of my mind, and sewed up my heart,

Only to see you again, which gave me a new start.

Your voice is as clear as the day we first met

The smile on your face, something I dared not forget.

Although I moved on, I only pretended

This caused my heart lots of unwanted mending.

I knew how I felt, the first day we met

But felt it slip away like the gorgeous sunset.

My life changed for years and I thought it would end

Until you showed back up, arms wide open again.

To know I still have such a great unknown bond

Makes my heart yearn, and need to be wrapped in your arms.

I know it’s so soon, but I never could forget

How you made my heart melt, the second we met.
