The pineappleA Poem by StarlingAnanas comosus.Sat on a shelf, in a cart or a crate Hands touching its face or feeling its weight It's the fruit that everyone loves to hate and that's just what makes it so great No prospects, no career No "where do you see yourself in 20 years" Because the pineapple's life is short but sweet And the rat race is just too tricky without feet Its spiky shell can be scary but that only lasts a while Because its soft sweet insides will quickly make you smile And you'll get even more joy from your new juicy chum If you put it in a tall glass with some coconut and rum It's always happy to serve you and do everything in its power Except for the one thing that could make it turn sour "You can cut me and peel me even put me in a stew But if you put me on pizza I'll start eating you!"
